When you buy, you pay a liquidity provider (LP) in local money, and the LP’s USDC moves from escrow to your wallet. The USDC is locked for your order before you pay, so it cannot be sold to someone else while you are paying.
1

Pick an offer

Choose an amount and a payment method. The app shows offers from LPs with their rate and how fast they usually settle.
2

Lock the order

Confirm the order. The LP’s USDC for your amount is locked to you. The app now shows the LP’s payment details and a reference code.
3

Pay the LP

Open your payment app and send the exact amount shown, with the reference code. For Wise, pay from your Wise balance to the LP’s Wise account. Card payments and bank debits are not accepted for a buy.
4

Prove the payment

Back in Pesa, sign in to your payment account when asked. Your phone reads the transfer record and makes a proof. Your password and account data stay on your phone.
5

Receive the USDC

The escrow releases the USDC to your wallet. The receipt shows the Stellar transaction.

Good to know

  • Pay before the pay-by time. The app shows a countdown. If you have not paid by then, cancel the order.
  • Use the exact amount and reference. The proof checks both. A different amount or a missing reference cannot settle the order automatically.
  • If the proof fails, the LP can still release the USDC to you after they see your payment.
  • Limits. Each order is at most $20 during the pilot.
